For narcissists...

Did Twitter just appear overnight? Did I miss something? Suddenly, it’s all the rage. I remember when I was your age, and Pluto was a planet, everyone had pogs that they carried around. That was all the rage too until one day, just as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished. So, when I finished creating a beast of a pog collection, I was below the trend, I was obsolete, suddenly insignificant. My point is that I think this is a fad, and social networking has already been mastered by Facebook. Microsoft and Google are both courting Twitter and I think the one that wins is going to be the biggest loser in all of this.

Now, what is the appeal of this Twitter? I think it is okay for promoting a website or a business but for the individual, I just don’t get it. You walk around telling everyone exactly what you’re doing in 120 words or less. Hmmm….It just seems like in this increasingly self-absorbed world more and more people need to be listening, not talking about themselves more. Am I right? In the meantime, I will challenge anyone to a game of pogs, anytime, anywhere.
