Time Portal Lighting

Billy May's Torn Lighting is the topic of today's featured post. How cool are these lights? Billy May's focus for the Torn lighting line was to use LED lights in a futuristic way for a subtle, yet intriguing appearance. The lights are meant to alter the focus of a room and create what some may perceive to be an initial flaw at first glance, but are actually part of the master plan. The illusion of the torn light lies in its appearance of being so immersed within the room, that it looks like its light source is completely natural. My favorite is the dog ear light (Shown in picture 2 above), which looks like a protruding imperfection until you realize that it is an intentional light. The way it works is that the LED polypropylene lights are mounted to the wall creating a camouflaged, rippled or torn appearance. It kind of looks like a time warp or some sort of a time portal-as if it leads into another dimension. If I owned one of these, I would invite my friends over, and then when they ask about the light, I would pretend to not know what they're talking about-"The Wall is messed up? What the heck are you talking about, there's nothing there!" These lights are just surreal enough to pull such a prank.
On another note, clearly Billy May the designer is way cooler than this Billy May, who I despise:

Has this guy sold his soul to the devil or what?
