Movie Review: State of Play

I got some free movie tickets through work so I went with a friend to cash in on my prize the other day-our choices were Hannah Montana, State of Play, or the Soloist (Big surprise, Jamie Foxx is playing someone with mental issues again). Anyways, as tempted as I was to see Hannah Montana, we settled on State of Play with Ben Afleck and Russell Crowe. It was pretty bad, and the acting was just awful. I think it was about some kind of government conspiracy or something or nothing where Afleck is the bad guy but then is the good guy and finally, he is the bad guy again (we figured it out!). The ending is a little unclear but what is crystal clear, is how bad Ben Afleck is at acting. I mean, the way I see it, if Ben Afleck is not wearing a track suit and spitting out Good Will Hunting lines to Matt Damon, then he is terrible. At one part, we were actually laughing when he was crying and screaming "OH NO! How could this happen! OH NOOOOOOOOO." It was too much to take and he killed the movie for me, just killed it. I was dozing off the whole time and I laughed at inappropriate times (drawing a couple mean looks in the theatre). My recommendation-don't see it, and stop wasting your money on Ben Afleck, unless they come out with a Good Will Hunting II (which they better not do).

Rating: 1.5/5-The movie had a couple redeeming moments with Russell Crowe and that one girl that was in Wedding Crashers is not bad to look at.
