The other day I bought tickets to a concert that I really want to go to. When I went to purchase the tickets, I realized that the concert venue went through the dreaded Ticketmaster. I looked elsewhere but quickly realized that the only option for purchasing tickets, was through the worst company in the United State of America-Ticketmaster. So, I purchased the tickets; they charged me a convenience charge, a service charge and a regular fee. What exactly is a convenience charge, anyway? I then realized that the Ticketmaster fees amounted to 30% of the final total! 30%! How is this not a monopoly?! There was literally nowhere else that I could have gone. Ticketmaster has control over the venue, the band, and most of all, the customers. So, when I saw the Consumerist was doing a "Worst Company in America" bracket pool, I was thrilled to see Ticketmaster in the Final Four, competing for the shameful title. Unfortunately, they are going up against AIG who, as we all know, has had its problems with the American people. Still, Ticketmaster is a company without a soul that adversely effects people on a daily basis. At least using AIG is a choice; Ticketmaster is a greedy monopoly that needs to die. So, please vote for Ticketmaster against AIG in the Consumerist Final Four for Worst Company in America! Cast your vote here.
